The Major Cities to Visit in Libya
Libya is a beautiful country set in Northern Africa on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Not only does this country offer spectacular sights, a wealth of natural beauty and an experience to remember, but it is rich in history and culture, all of which you can experience as you travel through the country and visit some of the major cities.
Tripoli
Tripoli is the capital of Libya and the largest of the cities. Here you can visit a number of great sights that attract tourists here on an annual basis. The Medina is the highlight of any visit to Tripoli, here you can wander through the old city, gaze at the spectacular architecture and shop at the traditional market places.
There is also the Red Castle Museum where you can explore the history of the country, wander through the many exhibits and get a true reflection on the country’s past. Stop past the Tripoli cathedral and enjoy the beautiful architecture it has to offer.

Benghazi
Benghazi is a port city located on the Mediterranean Sea, it’s also the second largest city in Libya. It’s here where you can wander through the Medina, also a great Medina filled with narrow passages, covered alleys, bustling markets and spectacular architecture.
Other highlights in Benghazi include Berenice, the Greek and Roman ruins, the Al Monar Royal Palace and the Zoological Gardens which combined a zoo and theme park.

Misrata
Misrata is located east of Tripoli and has one of the most spectacular coastlines. You can wander along the coastline before heading into the city center to enjoy some great shopping where you can purchase traditional items to souvenirs to take home with you.

Tobruk
Tobruk is close to the Egyptian border and is a popular tourist attraction because of all the war cemeteries that are housed here dating back to World War II.
